The National Trust for Scotland and Mharsanta launch ‘A Taste of Scotland’ at Culzean Castle.

The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) and award-winning restaurant Mharsanta proudly announce their latest venture ‘A Taste of Scotland’ - an immersive dining experience hosted in the majestic State Dining Room of Culzean Castle.

This dynamic collaboration builds on a thriving partnership between NTS and Mharsanta, who recently celebrated winning ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the 2024 UK Inbound Awards for Excellence, and ‘Innovation in Tourism’ at the 2023 West of Scotland Thistle Awards.

These accolades firmly cement Mharsanta’s role as a trailblazer in hospitality

‘A Taste of Scotland’ is no ordinary dining experience, it’s a feast for the senses and a celebration of the nation’s finest produce brought to life through innovative technology, in a breathtaking setting.

Culzean Castle is one of Ayrshire’s most iconic landmarks. Perched dramatically on a clifftop with views towards the Isle of Arran, its rich history dates back to the era of Robert the Bruce. In the 18th century, the castle was transformed into a lavish country retreat on behalf of the 10th Earl of Cassillis, a connoisseur of luxury and status. Highlights include the renowned Eisenhower Apartment, gifted to the US President, and the magnificent Oval Staircase with its soaring colonnades and striking oil paintings, offering a glimpse into the castle's opulent past.

This exceptional dining experience is driven by a shared passion to celebrate and protect Scotland’s heritage. Proceeds from A Taste of Scotland will directly support NTS conservation efforts, safeguarding historic treasures like Culzean Castle for generations to come.

Derek Mallon, owner of Mharsanta, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are thrilled to partner with The National Trust for Scotland and Culzean Castle. Expanding our 'Immersive Taste of Scotland Dining Experience' is exciting for the team, showcasing the best of Scotland's produce in this fabulous historic property."

Adding to that, Gary Docherty, Visitor Services Manager at Culzean Castle said “We’re delighted to collaborate with Mharsanta to take you on a culinary journey of Scotland’s finest larder, all within the grand and comfortable ambience of Culzean Castle's magnificent State Dining Room.”
